The Chase Technology College, Malvern, has an enviable reputation for high academic achievement but the school's ethos does not believe that solely providing an excellent eductaion is the end of their role or responsibility in the community at large.

The Chase's involvement in the community includes the participation of school bands and orchestras at a number of community events, student assistance at various events in Primary Schools and support of numerous Community Projects by students from all year groups.

Working with the Media

The school enjoys very good relations with our local newspapers and periodicals.  Photographs of school events, such as sports events, musical productions, award ceremonies etc are submitted to the Local Press on a regular basis (or the press are invited to take photographs) in order to celebrate the students' achievements and successes.  The schools also put photographs of students or students' work on their website to provide a flavour of the events taking place.

Work Experience

The Chase is committed to offering all Year 10 students the opportunity to complete a week's placement in June. Local companies and organisations are most supportive of this venture.

Young Enterprise

Through the "Elective programme" Chase offers sixth formers the opportunity to experience the cut and thrust of business. In the Company Programme, students aged 15-19 set up and run their own company over the course of one academic year. Founded in 1963 to forge links between schools and industry, Young Enterprise is all about enjoyment and having fun whilst "Learning by Doing".

Students elect a Board of Directors from amongst their peers, raise share capital, and market and finance a product or service of their own choice. At the end of the year they liquidate the company and present a report and accounts.

Formal recognition of the skills and abilities developed through the Company Programme is offered via the Young Enterprise Examination, which all Company Programme participants are invited to sit.

Our Young Enterprise companies at The Chase have enjoyed considerable success in recent years. In 2007 for the sixth year running, "Cut to The Chase", a Year 12 Young Enterprise company from The Chase, made it through to the South Worcestershire Area Finals and was rated as one of the best companies in the area. Students from the Chase have thrived in this competition almost completely dominated by public schools in South Worcestershire and are more often than not the only representatives from the state sector at the Area finals.

In recent years, Chase Young Enterprise teams have won a number of prestigious prizes at the Area finals including: The QinetiQ Cup for Innovation (2004), Rabjohns Prize for Best Financial Director (2006), Best Company (2006), Best use of ICT (2006) and Best Company (2007). So far in 2008 Chase's Young Enterprise Team have won Best Sales & Marketing; Best Presentation Cup, The QinetiQ Cup and Rabjohns Prize for Best Financial Director; making this the best year ever for a Chase.

Members feel that running a Young Enterprise company is challenging, personally gratifying and rewarding; they consider they learn much from their successes and even more from resolving their differences and problems along the way!

Today's students are tomorrow's business entrepreneurs.

Malvern Chase Brass Band

The Chase is home to a thriving brass band.

Membership of the band is open to all Chase students, current, former and prospective, as well as people of all ages from the local community.  Most of the members have or have had some connection to The Chase, and have a huge age span!  The band is a traditional brass band.  We play cornets, flugelhorn, tenor horns, baritone horns, trombones, euphoniums, big bass tubas, as well as having an extensive percussion section.  We perform four or five concerts a year, play at a few local fetes and fayres (including the school's Christmas and Summer Fayres) and usually twice a year in Priory Park bandstand.  We also raise money for a favourite charity at Christmas time playing carols around Malvern.

Local Police

The police force liaises regularly with the school in the best interests of students and the community.  Lectures are provided within the PSHE/Citizenship programme and informal and formal support offered at all school functions.
